CHALLENGE

A Global High Accuracy Wellbore Navigation and Drilling company with offices in Houston, Singapore and Aberdeen Scotland required significant improvement in payroll processing and job reporting applications access between these offices and remote, traveling employees worldwide. It’s Data Network compriseda ‘self-managed’ IT Department and helpdesk of 2 individuals responsible for break-fix via remote site dispatch as necessary to support the Tier 1 Carrier services and Cisco-based 35 site Global Private IP Network (for office and remote locations: 700 users) with Secure Internet-based Remote Access VPN via the public Internet for remote, small, home office and traveling employees (800 users).

The CFO/Controller and IT Director had serious concerns about the cost of the existing network services, equipment management costs and full-time employees supporting the entire thing and wanted options for relief without sacrificing service quality.

SOLUTION

After executive, financial and technical reviews of our recommendations, the client selected TeleSource to implement a new ‘Managed’ Global Data Networking Service with higher bandwidths speeds at significantly lower price points that also shifted previous internal responsibilities of site dispatch and equipment swaps to the sourced provider. This provided the opportunity for 7 helpdesk staff to be realigned into the application and research development departments whereby they’re making even more significant contributions to end-user satisfaction and reducing IT department staffing costs.
